Older Photos of Garden Ducks - 2018

  Photo

10th January 2019, unusual to have ducks visiting in January.

Photo

3rd Mach 2019, first visit by the Mallard mating pair.

Photo

4th Mach 2019, back again, and almost every day for spring.

Photo

Waiting for bird speed on the grass.

  Photo

13th Mach 2019, the girl takes a look at the nest on the island.  I did find three eggs in the next a few weeks later, abandoned due to
poor weather this spring.

Photo

9th April 2019, always extra boys around, looking to mate.

Photo

11th April 2019, 7:45am, ducks are here early today, waiting for me to put out bird speed, which the foxes also eat.

Photo

18th April 2019, still coming back daily to mate.

Photo

22nd April 2019, water lilies and irises are growing well in warmer weather.

Photo

30th April 2019, first ever visit of a Moorhen to the pond, stayed a couple of hours wandering around the edge exploring.  Had a Coot
several years ago for one day, guess they see water when flying over between parks.

Photo

Ducks stay out of the way for the Moorhen, this is the crow waiting to steal their food.

Photo

Moorhen now exploring the far side of the pond.

Photo

1st May 2019, three boys for breakfast.

Photo

11th May 2019, not coming back as often now, perhaps the girl has a nest elsewhere, but do come for supper some evenings.

Photo

12th May 2019, sitting on the top stream, often looking for crustaceans to eat in shallow water, need calcium for egg shells.

Photo

22nd May 2019, the daily battle trying to feed bird seed to the ducks without also feeding the pigeons.

Photo

Pigeons are gathering.

Photo

25th May 2019, girl goes hunting on the grass for bird seed.

Photo

And wanders back to the pond.

Photo

12th June 2019, visits becoming rarer, just to feed, really hope she has a nest elsewhere.

Photo

16th June 2019, girl alone, usually means she is sitting on a nest and no longer mating.  Last visit was 28th June.
