Photos from the garden in 2020 of visiting mallard ducks, no nest this year, just one egg, last ducklings were in 2009.

14th February 2020, 7pm dusk, first visit of the season from one girl and two boys.
Same ducks as last season, know where the best foof is to be found, bird
seeds on the grass. Can only put this out after the pigeons
have left.
Flash this time, also eating bread in the water. .
20th February 2020, a little earlier, eating seeds again.
Two boys and a girl again.
26th February 2020, midday visit from all three ducks, only one biy is the official partner, and tries to keep the second buy away.
Still keeping a close watch.
5th March 2020, the ducks will go looking around the lawn for food, it also makes themselves known to the house so someone will feed them.
14th March 2020, two clumps of frog spawn, that will turn into hundreds of tadpole over the next few weeks.
And one of the male frogs guarding the frog spawn, the females disappear back to the gardens after laying, and only return to spawn again.
26th March 2020, two ducks waiting on the house roof for the pond to be free of other boys.
1st April 2020, three boys eating bread, waiting for a girl.
10th April 2020, the duck has laid one egg in the nest hole, but not made any attempt to hide or protect it.
17th April 2020 2pm, visit for lunch.
But eating on the lawn can be dangerous, a male flies in, jumps her and mates with her.
30th April 2020, afternoon visit.
4th May 2020, sher never incubated the egg, which is finally broken.
19th May 2020, 7pm, sitting near the top pond, hopefully she has a nest elsewhere.
3rd June 2020, returns most evenings for dinner.
Eating bird seed again.
10th June 2020, no food in the garden, need to put some out now.
22nd June 2020, 8am visit waiting for breakfast with the fox.
Now eating bread.
Island is over grown, need to go and trim the grass.
Two neighbour's cats, Princess and Wispy, one very noisy, one very quiet, always hungry.
23rd June 2020, both ducks hidden in the grass on the island.
8th July 2020 10am, fox disappearing behind the trellis.
The boy is losing his grey feather for the summer and will become browner.
5th August 2020, don't usually see ducks in August, but the female is coming
back alone for a half an hour a day, to feed, probably
loooking after
ducklings elsewhere.
12th August 2020, and back again in the evening.
13th August 2020, having a good wash.
After the wash, a good shake. Last visit of the year was 17th August 2020.
